Bidding for Travel is a great web site to help you understand how to make good Priceline bids. Throughly read the FAQs for airline travel bidding.

Red eye flights and bidding are two different things. A red eye flight is simply a flight that is late at night (usually departs after 10 pm and arrives at the destination in the am). It's called a red eye because if you don't get much sleep on it you end up tired and having red eyes once you get to your destination. You need to know how to bid on flight prices. Priceline should have a FAQ section that will explain how you go about bidding for flights and how you pay for them. Usually you put in the price you want to pay, where you're leaving from and where you want to go (with dates). If there are fights available you can choose what flight you want a pay for it. You will then be able to either print your boarding pass on your home computer or take your confirmation number to the ticket counter on the date of travel and have them print your boarding passes.
