Can I fly with United Airlines using a temporary ID?

I have a flight booked for August 17th traveling to Sacramento, CA from Lincoln, NE, with a connection flight in Denver, CO. I purchased a photo ID from the DMV today (not a license) and they gave me a paper temporary ID to use. The thing is, the actual ID is supposed to get here around my flight date, and I'm not sure if I'll have it when I leave. I have no other forms of photo ID, but I DO have my birth certificate and social security card. Can I fly with a paper temporary ID without any problems on United Airlines?

Yes you will run into problems that will require you to go through additional screening measures. I would arrive an additional 1 hour earlier than what you had been planning to, to give you enough time. TSA will not hurry things up so you can catch your flight. so give yourself plenty of time.
