Direct, about 5 hrs or so.

I have flown from SAC to St Louis on several occasions and it is 5 hours of flight time, so direct from SAC to NYC should be at least 7 or 8 hours. If you have any layovers-could be a lot more hours of travel. The amount of flight time should be printed on your itinerary.

According to Expedia the only direct flight between SMF and JFK is with JetBlue and it would take 5 hours and 8 minutes. Coming back it would take 6 hours and 38 minutes. Other airlines offer you connections and the time would depend on where you're connecting through and what the layover time is. Going out can take 6 - 10 hours and coming back 7 - 10 hours. If you do decide to connect don't go through Chicago......it can be a nightmare with the weather.
