What happens if I intentionally miss a flight in a multi-destination flight?
From sacramento I am goin to fly to Miami, and my second flight is from Miami to Atlanta, ga. From atlanta I am currently flying to Sacramento. I called the airline to see if I can cancel out my second flight (I plan on traveling to Atlanta via car with a friend two days earlier). Unfortunately.. It will cost me the price of my whole ticket to do so :( If persay I "miss" my flight from Miami to Atlanta, will I have any charges... And more importantly, will my flight from Atlanta back to California still be valid?

If you miss a flight, you automatically lose all remaining flights. Sounds harsh and unreasonable, but that's the way it is. Though it's a bit of a long shot, you could try to get a cheap one way ticket from Atlanta to Sacramento, and then cancel your original flights once you get to Miami. That way, you will get some credit that you can use for another trip with the same airline within the next year. Of course, they will also charge you change fees, and it may not save you any money in the end...

Sorry, but you'll be treated as a no-show for you Miami-Atlanta flight, and the remaining flights will be cancelled.

Once you miss your flight in Miami, all associated flights are immediately cancelled. Which means that flight back to CA will be cancelled. This is not an airline rule. This is FAA, TSA, Homeland Security Law.
