Deciding whether to buy 2 flight tickets now, or 1 now and the other in 2 weeks?

So, this is my second time booking a flight online. My question is should I book 2 tickets now, or buy 1 now, and get the other in 2 weeks when I will have more money. The thing I'm worried about is the price going up (because it just recently did) or the whole flight being booked, and then my second person wont be on the same plane as me. It's from Sacramento to New York in October. What should I do? I need help! Maybe I wasn't clear... I'm wondering if I should buy my ticket now, and buy the other ticket in 2 weeks when I get paid. These are roundtrip tickets. The reason why I would want to buy my ticket now is because I will be able to afford it, but not the second ticket. But whats worrying me is I don't know if the price is going to go up OR they will close the flight once its full. Should I just call the airline?

You should buy both right now. Generally, buying two one-way flights is more expensive than purchasing a round-trip one. Have a great trip!
