How long would it take to get to the next gate?
I'm considering flying from Sacramento to Chicago-O'Hare on United Airlines and then picking up an American Airlines flight from Chicago-O'Hare to New York-JFK. The flight to Chicago arrives 22 minutes before the flight to New York leaves. Would I make it in time or is O'Hare International Airport too big to think about this?

United and American flights use different terminals, which means you'd have to leave one terminal, walk or take the train to the other terminal, wait in the security line, and then run to your new gate. I wouldn't try it in less than an hour. You'll be much better off if you can find two flights on the same airline to avoid re-clearing security. United has zillions of flights to New York.

it a big risk what if your flight is delayed.. i would allow at least an hour.. because if you have baggage you have to pick it up and go back through security if i was you i would try to find a direct flight or a coonecting flight with the same airline

Yes, UAL is Terminal 1 and AA is Terminal 3. A long walk, especially if you arrive in the "C" concourse. On weekdays AA has flights almost every hour between ORD and JFK. UAL flies more in to the Laguardia in NYC. But they have hourly flights too. I would see about an open ticket for a connecting flight or try to rebook on a later flight out of ORD.
