Proper ID for flight?
I'm 16 years old and I'm flying from Phoenix to Sacramento on Southwest Airlines. I have a drivers permit but it expired Oct. 23, can i still use that or can i use my birth certificate and my school ID?

any ID with your picture and name on it is OK

The bad news is that acceptable ID has to be government-issued and unexpired, show an expiration date, show your birth date, and have a picture that looks like you. The good news is that those under 18 are not required to have ID.

School I.D. and Birth Certificate might work. Call Southwest and see just to make sure. However, it only takes a cranky TSA or ticket agent to screw something up. If you can get your drivers permit renewed or a state id card.

You only need to have government ID if you are 18 or older. School ID should be OK, and bring the permit, too, even though it has expired.

Yeah, you can use your school ID if it has your photo and First + last name (and its the one from the current school year) They will accept it since minors technically arent required to bring one, but they should for verification purposes. I flew to Alaska from California that age and security still accepted that school ID i showed them (this was the summer after Sept 11th happened) Bring the permit too just incase they need more verification. You should be ok with the school ID. Definitely bring it if you are flying by yourself and not with your parent(s)
