your looking at a very expensive flight ticket. (150 - 200$). Italy is a very very expensive country. the places that are most amazing are Venice (get a pastrie and hot chocolate and ride the canals) Rome (its Rome it is a very large city based on shopping fashion and artifacts and ancient architecture) Florence and Tuscany are very beautiful areas. not much to see but very beautiful. you will need about 1000-2000 $ depending on what you would like to do, and how many people are coming.

hello, the flight ticket could be from 800 dollars (round trip ticket) to 2000 or more. Italy isn't expensive! You just have to avoid the tourist-restaurants, the tourist-stores, the tourist-markets! You can eat a delicious and real italian style pizza for 7 dollars, anywhere in Rome! You just have to avoid to eat pizza or what you like in the most famous squares and streets. You just have to visit the touristic places, take pictures, etc and then you have to go shopping and to eat in the lesser-known neighborhoods! It's simple, it's like this everywhere in the world! I think you need (3 or 4 stars semi-central hotel + food) 800 euros per week.

This question is too general to really give you a specific answer. It makes a difference exactly when you want to travel, how long you plan to stay, the kinds of things you're interested in, how much moving around you want to do while you're here and what's acceptable in the way of accomodations. However, we can provide you with the tools to help putting together your plan. For airfares, check sites like: http://www.kayak.com/ for the dates you want to travel. For hotels here, you can also use sites like Kayak or Expedia to find package deals, but I use this site for hotels here in Italy: http://www.venere.com/italy/rome/ . Hotel prices vary a lot depending on exactly what's going on and what time of year it is. You might also consider hostels or a monastery/convent stay. The trains are a great way to get around here. You can find schedules and prices at: http://www.ferroviedellostato.it/homepage_en.html . From Rome, there are a lot of possibilities for day trips. Florence is only 1 hr 35 min on the fast trains and Naples is a little less. You could easily visit places like Tivoli, Pompeii, or Capri. http://www.capri.net/ Prices for entrance fees depend on exactly what you want to see. some things like the Pantheon are free others can range up to 15 euro or more. You can find costs by searching for the gallery/museum/historical site you want and "entrance fee" or the equivalent. Food depends on what and where you eat. I generally count on paying 25 to 50 euro for a meal when I go out exploring, but you can certainly eat well for less (or a lot more). Menus are posted outside restaurants and you can check what's offered and prices while you're out exploring. Food is generally cheaper and often better if you eat away from the immediate vicinity of the tourist attractions. You can get panini or pizza by the slice for around 4 to 6 euro or a whole pizza for 8 to 13 euro. If you want to immerse yourself in the culture, look for local festivals. They often celebrate traditions and culture and feature food specialties at relatively inexpensive prices. There are many strange and wonderful events here that can be a very rewarding experience. You can reask the question when you have more detail on exactly what you want to get more specific answers.
