Can I see a passenger at an international airport between 2 flights

Can I see a passenger at an international airport between 2 flights?
Hello all, What I like to know is if I can see a passenger at an international airport in a flight transition. Please let me clarify my question. My sister in law is going to fly to Sacramento from Turkey and she has a transfer flight at Chicago O'Hare international airport where she is going to first land in the USA. My wife I are planing to see her at O'hare airport in the meanwhile before she departures to Sacramento. Actually, she is going to bring a musical instrument like a guitar which we also plan to get it from her at the airport. I know that airports in the USA are in the maximum-security lately so we just wanna be sure if they let us see her at the airport and get some stuff like the instrument or some other things like traditional food etc. Otherwise, It won't be so fun for her to bring everything for nothing either for us. Thanks much for all the answers and help you give regards, LCn Thanks for all those answers my question. I've also a contact with an agent from the airport and he said that there won't be any problem for meeting my sister in law or getting any stuff from her after she passes the customs. The only problem might be that if transition time's not enough. we get 4 hours before she leaves so that seems ok. What I am told is that we at least need 2 hours before she goes through the security area. Regards,

She will have to leave the secure area and go through security all over again. You will NOT be allowed to meet her at the gate.

You can try asking the airline agent at Chicago for a couple passes to go through security and meet your sister in law. Hopefully she has enough time between flights but what you can do is give her name and flights to the agent and hopefully they'll let you know what gates she'll be at, and you can get there early enough to see her. There will probably be time spent in customs. So good luck and I hope you have enough time! If you can't get through to the gates, your sister can leave security and come see you, as long as she gives herself time to go back through security. Good luck!

Actually, given the fact that your sister-in-law is flying from Turkey to the US, this might not be a particularly difficult feat to accomplish if her stop in Chicago is her gateway city in the US. If this is the case, then she is going to have to claim her luggage there, go through customs and immigration, re-check her luggage, and re-clear security before boarding her next flight to Sacramento. If you plan it correctly, it's possible that you'll be able to meet her after she comes out of customs. Since she has to re-clear security after coming through customs/immigration, you'll need to simply find a place to meet her outside of security, get the items you want from her (she'll have all of her luggage with her, regardless of whether it's checked the whole way through), and then she'll simply have to recheck her bags and go back through security. You'll want to ensure, though, that she has a few hours in Chicago in order to do this. If her transfer time is two hours or less, virtually all of that time will be eaten up in actually going through customs/immigration and making the transfer, so it's doubtful she could spend much time with you and still make her connecting flight. If she has a few hours or more, though, then I don't think you would have a problem.
